Hygge, the Danish lifestyle trend that’s flourished in the dark of winter.
Denmark has once again topped the world’s happiness report, an impressive result for a country where winter sunshine is in short supply and one attributed in no small way to ‘hygge’.
Norwegian in origin and meaning wellbeing, hygge is all about the joy of the moment, finding pleasure in simple things and savouring the company of others.
As tea farmers we know the joy and feeling of warmth a cup of tea can bring to a wet or depressing day. But to be truly ‘hygge’ we recommend taking time to brew a pot of loose tea, settle down with friends or family and remove yourself from the constant pull of modern technology. Enjoy!
Keen to get a bit of hygge in your life? Then why not take a moment with our new Kenyan Caravan loose tea. Inspired by the aroma of the Kenyan Savannah, as the nomadic Maasi follow ancient routes behind the annual rains. You can almost hear the lowing of cattle and rustling of grass in the wind as you take in the smells of smoky Lapsang combined with fresh black tea from Kaimosi and sweet hints of liquorice root and orange.
